The Berkeley Carroll School seeks a dynamic Communications & Social Media Coordinator to join its Marketing and Communications team. This role is key to enhancing the School’s visibility, engagement, and communication strategies across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills and the capacity to craft compelling stories that resonate with our community. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Communications.
Successful candidates will possess current knowledge and experience with social media, digital, and print communications as well as an interest in the education field. They should have exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently while producing quality, detailed work.
As an internal reporter for the school, they will regularly attend and document school events and activities. This content will be utilized for social media posts, as well as for updates on the school's website and magazine.
Key responsibilities:
Manage and curate the school's social media channels: identify, attend and document events and activities, and create interesting, compelling content in the school's voice
Suggest social media strategies that leverage the strengths of Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
Expand key social media stories into longer form articles for the school’s website and magazine
Perform internal and external communications projects as assigned. This includes updating News Stories on the school’s website, and helping to organize a photo bank with teammates, as well as copy-editing various school documents and communications collateral as directed.
Note: School events sometimes occur before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m., so the ability and willingness to attend them (with reasonable notice) is important.
Qualifications:
A bachelors' degree and a minimum of two years of work experience in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field
Excellent writing and editing skills
Demonstrated recent experience curating and managing social media channels and creating content for them, including covering and taking photos at events
Strong organizational skills, with an ability to successfully manage multiple projects, think out-of-the-box, and work under deadlines
Good interpersonal skills
An ability to build relationships with multiple diverse constituencies
Experience with Finalsite or another CMS is helpful
Basic HTML, and experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite and other social media management platforms is desirable

Salary and benefits are highly competitive and will be offered based upon experience and credentials. The salary range for this position is $55K-70K.
