Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Admission & Financial Aid works alongside the senior administrative team to further the school's strategic plan goals in accordance to the mission, vision, and values of Overlake. One priority goal of the strategic plan is to increase the diversity of the student body so that more underrepresented students apply and are admitted. The Director of Admission & Financial Aid will be able to drive initiatives to attract and yield students coming from under-served communities, especially Black, LatinX, Indigenous, and diverse socio-economic communities. Job Description Primary Responsibilities: Qualifications: • A demonstrated commitment to the school’s mission and values. • A bachelor's degree and at least five years of progressively responsible admission management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Demonstrated analytical, strategic, and problem-solving ability. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to motivate and manage a large parent and student volunteer base. • Experience and success recruiting students and families from diverse, under- represented communities. • Intermediate aptitude with Microsoft Suite and either Ravenna-Admit, in Resonance, Veracross, or a similar student information database/system. • Personal qualities of integrity, resilience, approachability, kindness, and humor students into the primary entry grades of 5, 6, and 9. • Oversee and manage all aspects of admissions' events including, but not limited to: Open Houses, Interview Days, Tours, Online Information Sessions, Placement Testing Days, Admission Fairs, Visit Days, Welcome Receptions, and Yield Events. • Oversee and direct strategic outreach efforts to result in growth of Overlake’s underrepresented student populations. • Track and measure progress in admission and retainment of underrepresented student populations. • Oversee the financial aid application process for prospective families including production of application materials and tracking required forms. • Oversee the re-enrollment process of current students and manage attrition. • Attend and participate in local, regional and national admissions organizations as Overlake’s representative. • Oversee admission committees and their effectiveness in producing a well-balanced, mission-aligned, diverse student body. • Oversee and execute on strategic yield initiatives. • Manage student and parent volunteers and programs, such as the Parent Ambassadors and Student Ambassadors, to ensure Overlake is represented in the best way to prospective families. • Consult throughout the academic year with Division Heads, Advisors, Director of Student Support, and Director of Diversity & Inclusion on student issues that might arise - in or out of the classroom. • Collaborate with the Director of Communications & Marketing to produce collateral materials needed for admission recruitment, including digital and print materials. • Cultivate relationships with area feeder and nearby school placement counselors and admission directors. • Understand and inform school leadership about current research, demographics, and admission and enrollment trends, ensuring that changes and challenges are anticipated, understood, and addressed. • Maintain statistical and trend data related to enrollment, assessing student demographic data to ensure alignment with the School’s mission. • Serve on Overlake’s Administrative Team; Attend Board of Trustee meetings • And other duties as assigned.
