Description
Baker Demonstration School, an independent progressive PK-8 school on Chicago’s North Shore, is seeking an exemplary Marketing and Content Specialist. The ideal candidate will be ready to develop and implement a dynamic and effective admissions marketing strategyand create compelling contentthat distinguishes Baker and expands its reach on the north shore and Chicagoland area. Leveraging and building relationships within the Baker and nearby communities will be a key component of this work. As lead content strategist and creator for admissions marketing, the Marketing and Content Specialist is responsible for working with the enrollment management team on strategic messaging for admissions and retention impact, delivering compelling content across digital and print media, and building and guiding targeted and effective marketing campaigns that include social media, online and local presence. We seek qualified candidates who are savvy and strategic thinkers; experienced in school or non-profit communications, feature writing, video storyboarding and social media engagement. As importantly, we seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to developing one's own cultural competency, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Marketing and Content Specialist will collaborate closely with the Enrollment Management Team and Director of Community Eventsto ensure that admissions and retention are prioritized in content creation, messaging and communications. Success in this role depends on the ability to build relationships, spark excitement and generate support from all stakeholders. Experience working with independent schools or non-profit organizations is preferred.
*Part-time with possibility to transition to full-time in late fall.
Responsibilities
Build relationships with parents, faculty, staff and students to interface, communicate and market effectively.
Operate as a strategic content specialist leading internal and external communications initiatives
Design, write and develop compelling marketing materials such as brochures, presentation materials, advertising, social media content, web pages, videos, email marketing
Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report marketing operations activities for admissions events and track media results on an ongoing basis
Collaborate closely with the Enrollment Management Team to ensure that admissions and retention are prioritized in content creation, messaging and communications
Manage school website and social media content, gathering and analyzing data from web traffic and marketing campaign results to guide and inform strategy and content creation
Stay current on trends in communications and marketing outreach for admissions and retention
Manage annual marketing budget and track project costs to control expenses
Collaborate with the Leadership Team, Enrollment Management Team, and Director of Community Events in the execution of key internal and external communications.
Exercise great attention to detail to ensure content is consistent in using family-centered language, tone, writing styles and formatting
Demonstrate a strong commitment and understanding of Baker’s core values & mission
Organizational Relationships/ Reporting Structure
Reports to the Head of School for the performance of all responsibilities related to the position.

Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field from a four-year university
Minimum of three or more years experience in a communications, content creation and/or marketing role
Exemplary written, communication and presentation skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, G Suite, social media platforms and Google Analytics
Professional and adept at designing communications for different stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and understanding of nuanced school environment situations
Experience with working on integrated marketing campaigns, including designing social media strategy
Commitment to relationship-building with faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni and understanding its importance in telling the compelling, unique story of Baker
Must be technologically adept with excellent project-management and time-management skills
Strong personal and professional commitment and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion
Adept at contributing positively to the school community and cultivating impactful connections with community partners, donors, families and colleagues
Experience with analysis of marketing data marketing data analysis and reporting
Possesses high energy, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
