Position Description:
Town School for Boys seeks a full-time (12-month), resourceful, self-motivated and hands-on professional to serve as Director of Communications. The Director of Communications is an integral part of the school’s small but high-performing Advancement team, overseeing all parent and external communications, web/social presence and maintaining the school's overall brand. Proven project management skills and advanced writing/editing/creative expertise are required to succeed in this role.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized person who possesses strong interpersonal, time management and decision-making skills, and is also willing to listen and learn in order to thrive in a dynamic environment with exceptional educators, collaborative team members, and highly dedicated parent volunteers. School Communications
Create, implement and oversee communication programs that effectively capture Town School's spirit, brand, and voice.
Work with Events & Communications Assistant to develop, review and edit all material for public consumption sent on behalf of the school.
Craft messaging that is clear, concise, and conveys the appropriate tone and voice of the relevant sender.
Manage constituent information and distribution lists, ensuring contact information and groups are accurate and up-to-date.
Maintain a communications calendar that thoughtfully balances and streamlines the high volume of information sent to parents.
Website/Social Media Management
Update portions of the website prior to each academic year and on an ongoing basis. Also keep the internal community "portal" up-to-date and accurate.
Develop an annual social media plan and ensure social media activities are in accordance with the plan and goals.
With the Events & Communications Assistant, manage Town's social media presence, including content development, photography, and social media calendar oversight.
Document school events, athletics and school life via photography and video to convey effective stories and capture key campus events. Events may occasionally fall on evenings and weekends.
Marketing/PR
Oversee creation of materials that enhance Town's visibility and strengthen ties with existing community, including annual About Town magazine.
Develop comprehensive marketing strategy in consultation with the Director of Admission & Tuition Assistance.
Provide counsel and hands-on support in public relations efforts, and in developing effective communication strategies and messaging in collaboration with the Senior Administration team and Head of School.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years relevant experience.

Salary information: At Town, salaries are one component of a compensation package that includes retirement matching, daily lunch, health & dental insurance, and life, AD & LTD insurance. The anticipated annual base salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Director of Communications is $70,000 to $130,000, depending on factors such as years of experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as part of any final offer.
