Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Associate A.D. is responsible for clear communication of the department vision for a culture-driven athletic program through various media channels and innovative event planning. The Associate A.D. will coordinate with and obtain approval from the Director of Communications for the Schools on media content. Hands-on mentorship in athletic administration is a primary benefit of this position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create and manage strategic content on all social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.) in coordination with and with approval from the Director of Communications for the Schools.
Design and oversee special events (speakers, NCAA Celebrations, Awards, Senior Games, Team Banquets, etc.).
Coordinate logistics for Friday Night Lights.
Organize and execute Media Day and team photos.
Create digital game day programs with QR codes.
Manage Catholic League Awards and MHSAA Scholar Athlete Awards.
Supervise CranNet contest coverage.
Manage team web pages.
Maintain season and long-term records.
Update contest results in real time (liaise with coaches and parents).
Collect and Manage Contest Photos (liaise with coaches and parents).
Assist in game management/admissions for MHSAA and CHSL Tournament events on campus as assigned (will require evening and weekend availability during fall/winter/spring seasons).
External Representation
Stand in for the Athletic Director as assigned.
Represent Athletic Department on MHSAA Committees.
Attend MHSAA and Catholic League annual and monthly meetings.
Internal Representation
Represent Athletic Department on Educational Policy Committee.
Assist Athletic Director with monthly staff and A.D. meetings, team pre-season parent meetings, 8th grade transition annual meeting.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Five years communications experience required, work in schools and/or sports strongly preferred.
Proven success in independently managing many projects simultaneously with impeccable organization and follow-through.
Clear voice and impeccable judgement when representing Cranbrook Athletics on social and other media channels.
Excellent interpersonal skills required. Will be regularly communicating with students, parents, alumni, staff, faculty and administrators. It is necessary to understand, speak, and write in English.
Must have excellent verbal and written skills, and be familiar with Facebook, Twitter and other social media with the ability to effectively manage and utilize these resources.
Some knowledge of web software technologies, website construction and photo editing software strongly preferred.
Positive problem-solving ability is required to perform the functions of this position.
High-level organizational skills including multi-tasking and time management.
Must have weekend and early evening availability during fall/winter/spring seasons.
Must be able to travel regionally to contests and meetings.
Position may require significant standing/walking for long periods, indoors and outdoors in all weather, and/or lifting up to 50 lbs.
Proficient computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office suite required.
Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record required.
