Mark Day School seeks an outgoing, personable, and professional Associate Director of Admission to join our team. This is a 12-month, full-time position with some early morning, evening, and weekend work required. The ideal candidate will have a college degree, 3-5 years of school admission or administrative experience, and proven cultural competence in a community committed to issues of diversity, equity, and social justice.
The Associate Director must exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills and should also possess the following qualities and attributes:
Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization—students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, prospective families.
Ability to represent Mark Day School to the community.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and follow through; be a “self starter.”
Ability to be a team player and become involved in the life of the school (assemblies, faculty meetings, community events, etc.).
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects as they relate to deadlines.
The Associate Director of Admission must demonstrate:
Willingness to be flexible to work extended hours during busy times, including early mornings and occasional evenings and weekends.
Diplomacy and tact.
Good judgment.
Discretion with confidential information.
Commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Strong organizational and computer skills including Word, Excel, and Google Sheets, and databases; experience with School Admin or other admission management software a plus.
Facility with social media.
Ability to write with attention to content and grammar.
The primary role of the Associate Director is to support the Director in all aspects of the admission process. These duties include:
Administrative support and data management
Provides direct administrative support to the Director of Admission including but not limited to: Answering phones, scheduling and calendar management, and keeping stock of admission office supplies.
Manages and oversees the School Admin admission database.
Maintains statistical admission information; generates various reports as needed.
Prepare mailings and other communication.
Assisting Director with recruitment activities
Organize and manage set up for tour mornings, open houses and other prospective family events.
Represent the school at various school fairs and school visits.
Attend prospective family events, including some weekend and evening events.
Lead campus tours for prospective parents and respond to prospective parent questions (in person, by email, and phone).
Be knowledgeable about all aspects of school life, admission and indexed tuition processes and accurately communicate them to prospective parents and guardians.
Assisting Director with admission process
Contact parents, schools, and teachers to complete applicant files.
Organize applicants’ visits to campus.
Schedule parent meetings, K/1 screenings, and assessments.
Manage K/1 screening setup and serve as a screener.
Oversee assessment process for 2-7 grade admission, including individual administration.
Serve as member of admission committee.
Prepare correspondence to applicant families.
Assisting Director in welcoming new families
Plan and attend welcome events for new students and families.
Communicate with new families throughout spring and summer months.
Prepare new student files for the Registrar.
Maintaining professional development through local and national organizations and conferences
Represent school at professional meetings (e.g., BADA, AISAP).
Keep abreast of admission and indexed tuition trends and developments through attendance at professional conferences and workshops.
Participating in school community events (e.g., school fundraiser, faculty meetings).
Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000
