Dawson School, a K-12 independent school of 535 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications to develop, coordinate, and implement Dawson’s internal and external marketing strategies, communication protocols, and public relations initiatives. The position will oversee digital and physical communications, including publications, website content and design, brand identity, and media relations. This individual is a member of the executive leadership team and reports to the Head of School/CEO.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will have a thorough understanding of marketing and branding principles and tactics acquired through 8+ years of prior marketing and communications experience. This is a hands-on position where a proven ability to design, develop, and implement both strategy and supporting plans in a one-person department is essential. A successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, excellent communication skills, social media experience, strong writing and editing ability, and a desire to become an integral part of the community. Experience in graphic design, photography, or independent schools is helpful.

In addition to furthering school strategy and success, and managing the school’s brand identity in keeping with the stature and mission of the school, the Director of Marketing and Communications will conduct relevant market research, develop and deploy social media strategies, and coordinate all school print, electronic, and digital media. This position will support internal constituents, oversee production of school publications, and ensure the website is compelling, accurate, and reflects Dawson in the best possible way; they will also help spearhead crisis communications, and create community partnerships to support school visibility and growth.
