Job Description Seattle Prep is hiring a full-time Communications Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting with marketing and communication efforts within the broader context of advancing the school’s Jesuit mission and identity.
Essential Functions: • Work with the Director of Communications to ensure all published materials meet branding/naming guidelines • Help the Director of Communications implement communication strategies across the organization and across external constituents • Facilitate internal relationships and communications • Support school events and initiatives with appropriate communication and marketing efforts that range from print (postcards, signage, brochures, letters, banners) to online (website, PowerPoint presentations, social media) • Assist with the Alumni Quarterly Newsletter and Panther Tracks school magazine through the utilization of strong writing, editing, design and research skills • Draft and edit internal and external communications • Develop social media strategy with Communications Director. Implement strategy: schedule, draft, post social media content. Monitor channels according to communication strategies. • Track communication projects and website traffic • Support "friend raising" and fundraising events as well as key schoolwide initiatives with appropriate communication and marketing efforts • Consistently and reliably attend all contracted responsibilities in person • Consistently and reliably manage physical, mental and emotional stress to maintain stamina in fast-paced working environment • Consistently and reliably foster a spirit of collaboration by showing initiative, willingness to help others and commitment to team goals
Reporting: This position reports to the Director of Communications.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities): • Knowledge - A bachelor’s degree in a related field • Prior experience as a communications specialist, assistant or similar role • Excellent attention to details and organizational skills • Excellent collaboration skills - a team player who is comfortable taking initiative • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities • Technology skills - high level of comfort in exploring, integrating, and utilizing technology in communications and marketing efforts • Proven Experience with MS Office and design tools such as Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. • Experience with email marketing tools, specifically Mailchimp • Data management –understanding of segmentation, personalization, and analytics • Basic knowledge and familiarity with content management systems (such as Finalsite) in monitoring, managing, and updating website content • Knowledge of various social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion • Ability to work evenings and weekends during events • Successful completion of criminal history background checks, and Safe Environment training. Full Covid vaccination or proof of medical exemption are encouraged.
