DIRECTOR OF ADMISSION
The Peddie School, in Hightstown, New Jersey, invites applications, nominations, and inquiries as it seeks a reflective, inspiring, collaborative, and dynamic leader as its next Director of Admission. As a direct report to the Head of School and a member of the senior leadership team, the ideal Director will oversee all aspects of the admission and financial aid programs and be charged with enhancing student recruitment and enrollment efforts with data-informed practices, team-oriented leadership skills, and a forward-looking mindset. Direct responsibilities include planning and oversight of the annual admission process from marketing to enrollment, management of the office budget (including travel) and day-to-day operations, administration of the tuition assistance budget in all categories, supervision of staff, partnering with Marketing and Communications to develop marketing materials and campaigns, and participation in all related programs at Peddie.
An experienced admission professional who balances warmth and hard work with a devotion to excitement, curiosity, and character, the new Director will embrace Peddie’s diverse and multi-faceted campus community and will effectively illuminate the differentiating nature of the Peddie experience. Often the lead voice for the high powered and innovative academic program, vibrant arts and athletics programs, and strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the new Director will play an essential role in telling the Peddie story more boldly and broadly. In addition, the new Director of Admission will identify new opportunities that will add to Peddie’s institutional growth and bolster its national presence among independent schools. A start date of July 1, 2023 is anticipated.
The successful Director will possess many of the following experiences and attributes:
Significant admission experience (10+ years) and considerable experience at independent schools; boarding/residential school experience greatly preferred.
High level of cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their approach to building relationships with students, faculty, parents, prospective applicants, and other community members.
A current understanding of national best practices in independent school admission and financial aid and demonstrated experience engaging best practices effectively in a competitive landscape.
A willingness to take informed risks and experiment with new strategies and techniques.
A high degree of comfort with implementing and managing change in an admission setting.
Experience with data-driven decision-making to inform effective recruitment efforts, admissions committee decisions, and financial aid strategies.
Excellent oral, written, and organizational and managerial skills with great attention to detail.
Ability to receive and respond positively to critical feedback, as well as to have difficult conversations.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to develop and hold vision through implementation.
