The Associate Director of Communications will support efforts to communicate and market Holton’s brand identity and assertively promote an accurate and compelling narrative about the School; develop content for the School’s website, newsletters, social media accounts and Doorways magazine using writing, videography, and photography; and serve as a primary back-up to the Director of Communications as needed.
Lead all school storytelling efforts, including:
Developing multi-media content including video, photography, web stories, and blogs to strengthen donor and constituent communications (Current Families/Parents), lead generation and conversions (Admissions), and the overall school brand;
Leveraging inbound marketing principles to maintain a robust editorial calendar of new and evergreen content that engages the above audiences;
Curating a steady stream of content through regular outreach and relationship-building with our academic, arts, and athletics departments;
Leading the editorial process for the school magazine, Doorways;
Managing and monitoring the School’s social media accounts to ensure regular engaging and informational content; and
Developing a proactive media strategy that includes regular pitching to local outlets.
Leverage data and analytics to recommend data-driven and strategic storytelling choices across mediums, including:
Developing, testing, and integrating strategies and tactics that align with Communications strategy and industry trends such as data tracking and Google analytics.
Assist the Director of Communications in collaborating across departments to synthesize School-wide communications and branding, including:
Developing the School’s regular newsletters including curating, laying out and distributing each (Sunday Skim, Holton Highlights, Alumnae eNews, Admissions Monthly, etc.);
Developing internal communications best practices and branding guidelines; and
Provide training, guidelines, and counsel to social media leads in other departments.
Serve as primary back-up to Director of Communications to ensure adequate coverage and redundancy.
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or by Head of School.
Experience with videography, photography, and digital editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite
Advanced knowledge of social media platforms as well as associated analytics
Understanding of content management systems
Experience in media, marketing, or a related field
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is highly preferred
Knowledge of independent schools is a plus
