Franklin Academy, a college preparatory boarding and day school serving students with unique learning styles in East Haddam, Connecticut, seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions to begin July 1, 2021. This position is full-time and reports to the Director of Admissions and is part of a team responsible for driving growth of our student inquiry pool and enrollment funnel conversion metrics. The ideal candidate will be an organized professional who enjoys a collaborative work environment. The person in this position has significant interaction with prospective students and their families, faculty and staff, and external constituents and assists the admissions team with all aspects of the admission and recruitment process. Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential. A positive outlook, warm personality, great sense of humor, and conscientious work ethic are crucial qualities for this position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement recruitment initiatives with the admissions team to increase qualified applications in support of the School’s strategic enrollment goals
Build an understanding of each family’s needs and interests to create a tailored, positive, and engaging admissions experience
Conduct campus tours and interviews
Clearly communicate our mission and program distinctives while cultivating strong relationships with educational consultants, placement professionals, advocates, service providers, feeder schools, and other organizations
Represent Franklin Academy at on and off-campus admissions events, including open houses, conferences, information sessions, receptions, consultant visits, and school fairs
Other duties as assigned by the Admissions Director
Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills with the ability to interact with different personalities
Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively, handle confidential information, and navigate sensitive situations with skill and compassion
Demonstrated cultural competency skills to effectively communicate and collaborate across difference
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Prior experience with inResonance or FileMaker Pro is helpful, though a willingness to approach learning new databases with humor and grit is essential
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
Professional experience in admissions and enrollment management, preferably in an independent school setting
Knowledge of learning differences and neurodiversity
Positive energy, flexibility, and an eagerness to participate in the life of the School
Ability and desire to work nights and weekends as needed
