General Summary: Provides leadership and support in the development and implementation of a comprehensive and innovative admissions and recruitment strategy in alignment with the School’s strategic and financial aid goals, with a focus on grades 5-12. Establishes positive relationships and opens channels of communication with these students and their families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Executes a comprehensive prospective student recruitment plan for grades 5-12 in alignment with the School’s enrollment objectives.
Assists in the management of the School’s financial aid program.
Nurtures positive relationships and outreach activities with partnership schools and organizations as possible avenues for enrollment to attract a qualified, diverse student body.
Collaborates with the Marketing & Communications Department in the development of outreach and marketing initiatives for prospective families.
Coordinates faculty, staff, and administrator involvement in enrollment events, activities, and initiatives.
Implements the coordination of all aspects of a prospective student/family visit experience either on campus or at events for grades 5-12.
Collects and maintains enrollment for grades 5-12, presenting and distributing regular reports.
Evaluates candidates through testing, interviewing, collection and review of information about applicants for grades 5 through 12.
Follows up and provides personal attention to the details of the transition for each family and follow-up with new families.
Organizes admissions committees for Middle and Upper School, and presents files for evaluation using testing, interviews, and collection supporting documents.
Serves as a resource for families during their transition period to USM after enrollment.
Collaborates on retention initiatives for grades 5-12.
Coordinates with other department staff to produce, update and distribute enrollment contracts, the enrollment booklet, update website information, etc.
Manages the selection process for the Upper School merit scholarship program.
Works with the Advancement Department about named scholarships for the purpose of stewardship of donors and for future planning.
Keeps abreast of current research, innovations, and trends in the areas of student success and evaluation, best practices in admissions, financial aid strategies and policies, and curriculum and instruction, in order to provide pertinent information and recommendations.
Assists in the promotion of a positive school climate and staff morale through positive feedback and recognition.
Prepares and maintains records as required.
Assumes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in an academic field such as education, or related field
3-5 years of successful experience as an educator and administrator, preferred
Successful experience working in a K-12, independent school environment preferred
Previous experience working effectively with culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations
Experience working in one of the three forms of Advancement in a school environment (Enrollment, Marketing, or Development), preferred
