SUMMARY: We seek a Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications to join our dedicated and enthusiastic leadership team. Possessed of warmth, high standards, impeccable ethics, the capacity for both initiative and collaboration, the ability both to anticipate events and to respond effectively to the unanticipated, the Director will be responsible for the vision and strategic direction of the School’s marketing and communications efforts. The successful candidate will embody a blend of informed optimism and vigilant attentiveness to the needs of the school and its constituencies. Resilience and a sense of humor will help infuse many of our communications with the joy with which we experience life at our school; a level-headed temperament, ability to pivot, wisdom, and outstanding interpersonal and writing skills will help us navigate through the more difficult communications that are required. This is a hands-on, demanding, and creative role responsible for shaping, planning, and executing messaging for The Masters School. The Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications reports to the Head of School and serves on the senior leadership team, as well as additional school-wide, strategic committees, as appropriate. S/he must be able to perceive the communication needs of all constituencies – prospective and current students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni/ae, the world-at-large – and to meet those needs with warmth, focus, and enthusiasm. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Demonstrate genuine and voluntary engagement with and commitment to our school community and its mission
- Guided by a deep and affirming understanding of principles and practices of equity and inclusion in a school community
- Develop a vision and formulate short- and long-term plans for the communications and marketing programs and their activities; monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance
- Manage the production of print and electronic publications, internal communications to parents, faculty and staff, crisis communication, event planning, and media relations.
- Generate and manage website and social media design and content, keeping current with new technologies and platforms
- Raise the visibility of the Masters School and support both Admission and Advancement efforts, ensuring effective messaging across all constituencies, and managing the School’s market position and identity
- Lead and prioritize the School’s integrated marketing efforts by developing and implementing digital and print marketing, communications, and social media plans; overseeing market research; producing print and electronic publications; buying media and implementing it effectively; creating an advertising strategy; supervising brand strategy; analyzing and assessing the effectiveness of all programs; streamlining and aligning the look of communications across all divisions and departments
- Foster strategic, targeted communications in order to build and expand relationships with all constituencies that contribute to The Masters School’s success and mission: students, faculty, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, prospective students and their parents, the media, and the wider community
- Partner with the Directors of Advancement and Enrollment, develop all print, electronic and social media materials to ensure coordinated, timely, and strategic messaging
- Coordinate the design and management of the School’s website to ensure consistency and up-to-date information across the site
- Support the communications needs of the Head of School, the leadership team, and Board of Trustees
- Serve as media contact for the School, strengthen relationships with various media outlets, and collaborate with The Masters School community to determine appropriate opportunities for outreach
- Manage crisis communications as needed
- Develop and monitor the department’s annual budget
- Other related duties as assigned
