The Chief Communications Officer is the creative, organized, and energetic leader of the Communications and Marketing team and is vital to the success of Chatham Hall.
The Chief Communications Officer is responsible for the vision and strategic direction of the school’s communications and marketing efforts. This is a hands-on and creative role, responsible for crafting, planning, and executing messaging for Chatham Hall.
The Chief Communications Officer serves on the administrative leadership team, and any additional school-wide, strategic committees, as appropriate.
Mission and Strategic Vision
Develop a strategic vision for the communications office; managing the school’s market position, vision, and identity. Serve as Chatham Hall’s brand champion and brand guardian in personality, language, themes, and visual execution. Leadership Communications
Support the communications needs of the Head of School, the Administrative Leadership Team, and Board of Trustees Strategic Communication to all Constituencies
In collaboration with the Head of School and administrative leadership team, craft the school’s strategic message. Create messaging targeted to each Chatham Hall constituency: admissions and enrollment (prospective families), community (students, parents, faculty and staff), advancement (alumnae and donors), external audiences (local and global community and the media). Ensure cohesive messaging throughout. Integrated Marketing
Lead and prioritize the school’s integrated marketing efforts by developing and implementing digital and print marketing, communications, and social media plans. Oversee market research. Produce print and electronic publications. Manage vendor relationships for outsourced design and deployment of marketing materials. Buy media and implement effectively. Create an advertising strategy. Analyze and assess the effectiveness of all programs. External Media Outreach
Serve as media contact for the school, strengthen relationships with various media outlets, and collaborate with the Chatham Hall community to determine appropriate opportunities for outreach. Working with the Head of School, lead and manage crisis communications in partnership with external support. Budget Management
Develop and monitor the department’s annual budget
The Chief Communications Officer should have at least a four-year degree (preferably with a communications, journalism, or digital media focus) and have 5-7 years of communications and marketing experience, preferably in education. In addition:
Proven editorial and copywriting ability.
Proficiency with Google suite required.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or similar), email marketing platforms, HTML, video/audio and editing tools, and new media platforms
