The Director of Communications is responsible for developing and implementing a broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and campaign plan designed to promote enrollment and support fundraising. This position requires close coordination and cooperation with the Director of Advancement, including, but not limited to, designing, implementing, and managing fundraising activities, scholarship programs, annual giving, capital campaigns, endowments, special projects, and other school-related solicitations and functions. The Director of Communications will report directly to the Head of School.
Bachelor’s degree preferably in English, journalism, communications, or marketing
5+ years of experience in communications or marketing in independent schools or non-profit organizations
Outstanding organizational and presentation skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and inspire a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with multiple creative projects
Creative artistic vision, demonstrated success as a confident problem solver
Experience in desktop publishing design and management of design production, preferably with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, and Illustrator.
Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design and social media marketing
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all the school’s constituents while maintaining strict confidentiality
Facility working with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds
Experience working with and motivating volunteers and staff members
Familiarity with the local community
Proven track record as a goal-oriented manager with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
