The Digital Communications Coordinator will report to the Director of Advancement and work to execute a comprehensive communications strategy that promotes Purnell’s priorities and builds brand awareness. This position will clearly communicate School events, fundraising campaigns, and admissions initiatives to internal and external audiences on social media channels and in print publications. The ideal candidate will have extensive graphic design experience working in programs such as Photoshop and Adobe. This position is also responsible for maintaining Purnell’s website and creating a strategic communications plan. By working collaboratively with administration and faculty across School departments, this position will make recommendations for best-practice and branding guidelines.
Skill in developing and implementing strategic communication plans, both collaboratively and independently.
Skill in utilizing multiple communication platforms to deliver content (e.g., social media, websites, print publications, e-newsletters, video etc.).
Proficiency in graphic design utilizing multiple software applications.
Ability to attend and photograph multiple School events throughout the year.
Experience building relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., administration, faculty, and external audiences).
Skill in written communication to include creative storytelling, editing, proofreading, developing strategic media lists/pitches, and drafting video and event scripts.
Skills in media relations to include developing and cultivating relationships with media, drafting media lists, tracking media results, and reporting.
Ability to implement plan for showcasing video and photo on social and web platforms.
Knowledge and understanding of brand management principles and how they apply to private, independent schools.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality content on a daily basis.
Must be available to work some evenings/weekends to support School related events, as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in communications/graphic design or 2+ years related experience.
Fluency and general knowledge of independent, boarding schools.
Fast-thinker who can solve problems both independently and with teammates in real-time.
