The Director of Admission is the leader of the admissions and enrollment process, from working leads to enrolling and re-enrolling students. The Director is an ambassador for GCE, cultivating a pipeline of families who seek to enroll their children in GCE Lab School, and guiding families through the process, utilizing networking opportunities and relationships with institutional partners.
The Director of Admission will embrace and advance the mission of the school. This position reports to the Head of School, and coordinates with the Senior Admin team on all matters pertaining to awareness and enrollment. The Director executes and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Admission Office, while supporting community outreach needs under the direction of the Head of School.
The Director will also participate in the whole life of the school and will assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School. These may include the coordination of Student Ambassadors, some role vis-a-vis school advancement, work with the Parent Organization or Associates Board, consulting on marketing and brand management, or even teaching.
Prepare and execute the Admission Plan and calendar in collaboration with the Head of School
Coordinate with staff, students and volunteers to attend high school fairs, develop prospective student programming, and other related events
Initiate and maintain communications with partner and feeder schools
Improve upon communication and outreach to current and prospective partners
Oversee prospective student visits, including the coordination of Visit Days
Coordinate and train student tour guides
Oversee parent school visits, tours, assessments, and other admissions activities
Interview families and meet with them in groups to provide information, answer questions and secure the admission of qualified students
Develop recruitment ideas and initiatives to grow the number of applications
Address prospective student concerns when they arise
Work with the Senior Admin team to implement the marketing plan geared towards growth in enrollment
Conduct interviews with students and families
Review Enrollment Contract and Student Handbook for the school and provide the orientation materials and program for new families
Facilitate admission decision-making process as determined by the admission standards and policies of the school
Coordinate Financial Aid Awards with the Business Office
Administration and School Support
Maintain admission and enrollment statistics and provides status and achievement reports to administrators and/or board members as directed
Prepare the admission budget and operate the department with budgetary guidelines, including the budgeting and expenditures for marketing material and advertisements
Maintain the enrollment/admission database, online application, and online scheduling process
Coordinate re-enrollment processes
Attend Field Experiences and other school programming as available to immerse self in school culture and student experience
Observe classes and potentially oversee after-school clubs or Community Days
Summary of Qualifications and Expectations
BA required; graduate work in business, law, education, or liberal arts preferred
Experience working in multicultural and multi-ethnic environments
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Established interest in progressive education
Non-profit experience preferred
Living abroad/travel experiences preferred
Experience working in secondary school admissions preferred
