Saddle River Day School (SRDS), a premier independent college-preparatory academy in Saddle River, New Jersey serving students from preschool through grade 12, is seeking a Director of Marketing Communications. Reporting to the Interim Head of School, and working with the leadership team, the Director of Marketing Communications will lead the planning and implementation of overall strategies for branding, marketing, and communications. This position will work to increase SRDS’ visibility within the community, advance its brand, and articulate clear messaging to internal and external constituents. The successful candidate must have a strong background in marketing communications including digital marketing, events, public relations, content marketing, branding, creative, internal communications, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. The primary objective of this position is to provide leadership in the planning, management, and hands-on execution of strategic marketing initiatives to meet the school’s enrollment and development goals and objectives. Familiarity with independent schools or higher education is a plus.
Oversee the branding and marketing strategies for the School
Develop branding guidelines and create/oversee all marketing material
Design, create and deliver a relevant and meaningful content strategy that is executed and leveraged across all media channels, with a focus on digital-led delivery and engagement tools
Develop, implement and maintain the school’s communication plan including weekly newsletters, quarterly publications, directories, and integrated communications. Lead external communications to support admissions strategies, social media engagement, public relations, and community relations
Partner with the Office of Admissions to drive and support new student enrollment and admissions events
Work with the Director of Outreach to coordinate and plan off-campus events to showcase SRDS teachers and staff
Work with the Parent’s Guild to coordinate and implement a SRDS-Parent Ambassador Program to enhance parent involvement and development strategies
Attend Weekly meetings with Admissions and Communications to discuss marketing needs, communication and goals
Serve as a positive school representative to external and internal communities, helping to build community and engagement with SRDS
Manage the marketing communications budget to ensure effective spend aligned with key targets and strategic initiatives
Establish and maintain relationships with local companies and relocation agencies and Serve on the SEM (Strategic Enrollment Management) Committee along with Board Members, Head of School, Director of Admissions and Director of Outreach
Serve on the Administration Team
Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary
Skills & Knowledge
Strong interpersonal, networking, and relationship building skills with the ability to lead and collaborate
A good listener and strategist; comfortable receiving input from many sources, and able to analyze, connect and communicate disparate information
Must possess outstanding writing, editing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
High level of organization and the ability to multitask efficiently and accurately
Expertise in marketing communications and the ability to both lead and engage in hands-on execution of strategies
Ability to develop, monitor, and adhere to budgets and drive production schedules.
Experience in creating enrollment communication strategies resulting in positive feedback from existing and prospective families.
Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with shifting priorities and competing deadlines
Comfortable with targeted digital marketing strategies, social media, plus related marketing technologies
Prior experience at the secondary and/or collegiate level is strongly preferred.
