Located in Farmington, Connecticut, Miss Porter's School is an all-girls boarding and day school, enrolling 320 students in grades nine through 12. Porter’s students come from 22 states and 28 countries; almost 40 percent receive over $4 million in financial aid; 20-25% are students of color; and 17% are international. The Assistant Director will participate in all aspects of recruiting a “New Girl” class and will serve as a liaison to the Office of Equity and Inclusion with special emphasis on meeting diversity goals, creating opportunities for greater access, and ensuring that the backgrounds and experiences of students are understood and valued within our community.
Travels extensively, recruiting students from around the country and, occasionally, internationally.
Interviews prospective students and parents on and off campus.
Establishes and maintains relationships with school counselors, educational consultants, and program directors.
Reads and evaluates applications for admission and serves on Admission Committee.
Assists in the planning and implementation of on and off campus admission and feeder events.
Partners with the Office of Equity and Inclusion to ensure proper training of staff, adherence to diversity, equity, and inclusion vision, and engagement with current and prospective students and their families.
Implements special programs and media/communications projects as assigned.
Fulfills campus responsibilities as a member of a boarding community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s Degree.
A minimum of two to three years of Admissions experience.
Demonstrates an understanding of the mission of both boarding and girls’ schools.
Exhibits strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
Demonstrates ability to work with a team, even when traveling remotely.
Sitting at a desk and using a computer much of the time.
At events, time spent standing/walking.
Extensive travel and driving, evening and weekend hours are routinely required.
Travel to off-site locations.
