Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a part-time Admission Evaluator for the 2019-20 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Observe and evaluate prospective students utilizing established admission assessments, guidelines and criteria.
Participate in activities involved in the recruitment and selection of student applicants for admission to Calvert School.
Communicate with parents of children who have applied to Calvert and assist them with the application process. Give additional tours of the school upon request.
Participate in outreach to preschools in the area to learn about their programs.
Assist in the transition of new students in the fall.
Attend Admission and school-wide events, which may require evening or weekend hours.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three to five years of related experience. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred and experience with assessments or instruction in early elementary education is a plus. The candidate must have the ability to work independently when dealing with the diverse elements of the academic and admissions environment. This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
This is a 10-month, part-time position and the hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
