The Director of Financial Aid has direct oversight of EA’s need-based financial aid program from the application stage through matriculation and beyond. You will help introduce families to the process; steward them through the process successfully; make strategic recommendations for awards; maintain disciplined records; follow up with families throughout their time at the school; and help students navigate the financial pressures they may face during their time at school. In addition, the Director of Financial Aid plays a critical role on the admissions team in helping to attract and recruit prospective families; hosting admission events; interviewing and touring interested families; and collaborating with many colleagues across campus. This is a twelve month, benefits-eligible position that reports to the Director of Enrollment Management.
What You Will Do:
Establish and maintain deadlines for submission of financial aid applications, taxes, and other supporting materials.
Using Clarity, Microsoft Excel, and Veracross, track the distribution of financial aid and provide accurate reports.
Establish and maintain a creative and strategic vision for allocating financial aid dollars effectively and presenting data in innovative and useful formats.
Brainstorm cooperatively and creatively in a highly collaborative environment.
Assist in planning and executing various marketing, sponsorship, and student recruitment initiatives
Read and evaluate candidate files.
Serve on the Upper School Admission Committee and Financial Aid Committee.
Represent EA at school fairs, conferences, school visits, and other events, especially those closely associated with financial aid.
Help organize, set up, and staff most admission events inside and outside normal working hours.
Track stages of admissions folder completion, including written correspondence to families and oversight of admissions decision letters and telephone calls.
About You:
The ideal candidate for the Director of Financial Aid at The Episcopal Academy will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree
At least three years of related experience
Strong organizational and analytical skills and a calm, solution-focused approach.
Ability to excel in managing high-stress situations.
Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines effectively without compromising accuracy or quality.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Strong people skills and intuitive understanding of prospective parent's needs and expectations.
Exceptional common sense and judgment, and openness to new ideas and innovation.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Natural marketing instincts and aptitude and a passion for the science and execution of marketing work.
Comfort working in and with diverse student and adult populations.
Flexibility to extend hours during busy periods.
