St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School is an independent, Episcopal day school, founded in 1953 and located on a beautiful and historic campus in downtown San Mateo, 19 miles south of San Francisco. The School serves over 300 students in Preschool through Grade 8 with a program rich in tradition, innovation, and purpose.
The St. Matthew’s experience begins with our commitment to ac...ademic excellence -- students learn to use their minds well, in the context of a school community devoted to the whole person – heart, mind, body, and spirit. Our Episcopal tradition provides an authentic language for teaching values and forming character. The result is an education that equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and experience to serve as leaders, in their further education in high school and college and in their communities through life.
The School's mission is to inspire, through an academically challenging course of study, the intellectual curiosity, confidence, moral courage, and character that prepare students to be leaders of positive change in the world.
