The Assistant Director of Development Communications works closely with members of the Development and Alumni Relations office and the Communications office to create communications for donors and alumni.
Create stewardship materials to educate, engage, inspire and thank our top donors for their generosity, including personalized communications, letters, and web-based information.
Write compelling copy for various Development and Alumni Relations communications pieces.
Draft and send all email communications from Development and Alumni Relations, including invitations, solicitations, Alumni E-news and stewardship pieces.
Write customized acknowledgment letters for key donors as required by the Headmaster, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations and Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
Draft proposals and annual grant reports to foundations.
Develop content for the Choate Alumni social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Oversee the assignment of students to appropriate scholarship funds, track award assignments for annual donor acknowledgments, and facilitate student letter writing process.
Develop and maintain plan to manage signage, including creating an inventory of existing plaques and remaining naming opportunities.
Minimum of 3 years of writing experience in an academic, non-profit, or corporate work setting.
Demonstrated expertise in effective communication to a variety of audiences through print, electronic media, and in person.
Superb writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability in basic design required.
Candidate must be a highly-motivated, enthusiastic, collaborative team member who can manage multiple, complex tasks while meeting deadlines.
Willingness to attend campus and outside events, and work with students and faculty on communications initiatives.
Facility with photo and video production is preferred.
