The part-time Communications Assistant will be an integral part of the Advancement and Admissions teams. He/she will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion and dissemination of Awty’s internal communications, as well as its external strategic marketing plan.
Support the Director of Communications with brand and style guide management by: applying Awty’s branding standards consistently across the board, educating and reeducating the internal community, and reviewing and monitoring all policies and guidelines regularly.
Assist the Director of Communications with managing and executing internal communications (mass email correspondence, weekly e-newsletter, school calendar, LED signs)
Work with the Director of Communications to learn the website platform, review the site regularly for errors and improvements, and assist with daily changes, calendar updates, creation of electronic forms, etc.
Assist both the Advancement and Admissions Departments with proofreading and editing internal and external communications including, but not limited to, invitations, fact sheets, appeals, newsletters, community-wide emails, marketing materials, etc.
Help draft content and develop fresh story ideas for mass media, social media, and/or school website
Collaborate with Director of Communications to build on the school’s current social media platforms
Monitor the school’s social media accounts and maintain a monthly analytics report
Assist the Director of Communications and Strategic Marketing team to develop and coordinate marketing ads, articles, promos, social media campaigns, digital ambassador program, etc.
Research marketing, web, and social media trends
Serve as the back-up on all emergency communications
Other duties as assigned including photographing/filming campus events, assisting with evening/weekend events, and supporting other advancement-related projects.
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or relevant field preferred
3-5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or relevant field
Exceptional demonstrated writing/editing skills
Experience in website maintenance; basic knowledge of HTML a plus
Experience with social media management (including analytics) preferably in a professional setting
Experience with photography/videography and photo/video editing software is an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and PhotoShop)
Proficient command of the English language and basic knowledge of AP Style
Written or spoken knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a plus, but not required
