For the 2019-20 school year, the Director of Upper School Admissions will play a vital role in the development and roll out of the first Upper School admissions cycle, as well as participate in the general and rolling admissions processes for the Early Child and Intermediate grades.
The primary responsibility of the Bennett Day School Upper School Admissions Director is to lead the Admissions process for 8th and 9th grade for the 2019-20 school year. The Director of Admissions will work in close collaboration with the Director of Early Childhood and Intermediate School Admissions, Marketing and Admissions team to set the admissions agenda and calendar, and create a “user experience” that takes prospective parents/guardians from the first touch point to enrollment. The Director of Upper School Admissions reports directly to the Principal and CEO and works in partnership with the Director of EC/Intermediate School Admissions.
The Director of Upper School Admissions Admissions is a member of the Executive Team and plays an important leadership role within the school community, both with faculty and new and returning families. The Director of Upper School Admissions ensures that the Admissions cycle is in alignment with LMAIS, ISACS and NAIS best practices and directly reflects Bennett Day School’s mission, vision, and values
Student Recruitment and Outreach: - Work with the Director of Marketing, Director of EC/Intermediate School - Admissions, and Education Team to create and execute a strategic admissions outreach plan, including materials/publications, ongoing communications, open houses, tours, and school fairs - Oversee project-based candidate assessments and shadow day visits - Conduct parent/guardian and student interviews - Chair the Upper School Admissions Committee and serve as a member of the Bennett Grants Committee - Establish and maintain memberships in admissions-related professional associations - Maintain contact with external organizations and Chicago area middle and elementary schools regarding recruitment and enrollment - Oversee parent, student, and staff volunteering for admissions eventsParticipate in the development of the “admissions-to-enrollment” experience for applicant and enrolled families
Office Management: - Work with the Business Office to create and maintain an admissions budget - Maintain the admissions section of the website - Manage the admissions module within the school database - Maintain statistics on all aspects of the admissions and re-enrollment process from year to year (enrollment, retention, tuition assistance, etc.) - Prepare enrollment reports for the Board of Directors - Attend Board meetings, as required, to provide periodic admissions updates - Provide support to other colleagues in admissions and marketing as needed for all to succeed

Job Qualifications: - Passion for the mission and the vision of Bennett Day School - Understanding of the tenets of progressive education - Marketing sensibility, preference for proven outreach and recruitment campaigns - Technology skills with BlackBaud or similar database systems - Professional network of admissions directors, heads and counselors at middle schools, and similar contacts - Thoughtful judgment and effective interpersonal skills - Excellent skills in oral and written communications - Strong management and organization skills - Ability to effectively present information to all constituencies of the school - Flexibility in adapting to change that happens in an entrepreneurial-minded school - One-two years minimum relevant experience, although we are more focused on your accomplishments - Experience with early childhood and intermediate school admissions helpful although not required
