St. John’s Episcopal School, celebrating 56 years in Olney, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Director of Enrollment Management for the 2018-2019 school year. The Director of Enrollment Management oversees all aspects of student recruitment and retention for the school. This position is responsible for both marketing and selling the school to the external and internal community, for developing and implementing admissions’ policies, and for ensuring that each class is filled with and retains appropriate qualified students. The Director of Enrollment Management works closely with the Administrative Team to market the school to prospective families in a manner consistent with the institution's mission. The Director of Enrollment Management will enthusiastically embrace and be able to communicate St. John’s Episcopal School’s mission, philosophy, and culture. He or she will have the “head” of the private sector and the “heart” of the public sector. The Director of Enrollment Management must thrive within a sales-like atmosphere, including setting and meeting goals.
Directs all school marketing activities, including marketing communications, public relations, admission events, market research and analysis, and maintenance of the prospective student and lead database(s)
Conceives, develops and oversees innovative marketing programs that drive market awareness (industry buzz/voice) and demand for the school’s programs and offerings
Conceives, develops and oversees the design and implementation of student retention strategies
Establishes marketing goals and programs necessary to reach student population objectives.
Evaluates the effectiveness of marketing programs
Utilizes his/her proficiency in SEO and social media marketing principles to build a pool of prospective families
With the Director of Finances, builds and manages the Enrollment Management budget.
Directs all prospecting, presenting and closing efforts needed to admit and retain new students into the school
Oversees the process of admitting the prospective student, including the administration of financial aid programs.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal skills, as this position requires interaction with prospective families from all demographic areas
Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required in order to successfully present and sell the school to current and prospective families, including letters and professional reports
In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of marketing and sales principles and practices as well as independent schools
Knowledge of independent school admissions processes and the ability to handle objections “close the deal”
Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation and organization skills.
4-year degree in Business, English or Marketing preferred; Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, or other appropriate discipline preferred
Equipment and Applications:
Strong understanding of Google Docs, PC and Microsoft Office applications, Google Analytics, social media tools, i.e. Hootsuite, Adobe Photoshop, and Constant Contact
Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative and who is able to work independently. Must be able to work collaboratively with the Administrative Team internally, and parents, board members, feeder school, and vendors externally. The Director of Enrollment Management reports to the Head of School.
