At the direction of the Director of Development and the Montverde Fund, the Director of Communications will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate Montverde Academy’s mission. This position is the primary source, distributor, and channel of information across all departments and will work closely with senior staff as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.
Experience in planning, leading, and managing projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress. Must have an ability at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers across different levels of the organization and externally. Must be able to interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Excellent verbal communication, writing and editing skills. Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives. Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences. Ability to solve problems, make decisions and handle many tasks in a fast-paced, complex environment, working both independently and as a team member.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive communications and public relations plan that will enhance the Academy’s image and position within the community and the general public
Facilitate all internal and external communications
All written communications and public relations activities and materials including publications and media relations.
Ensure articulation of the Academy’s branding, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Academy, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
Responsible for editorial direction and production for all Development publications
Coordinate media interest in the Academy and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
Act as the Academy’s representative with the media.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's or master's degree in advertising, communications, public relations or similar area of study.
3-5 years of experience in the communications or public relations field.
Outstanding writing skills and the ability to tailor communication style to reflect the voices of the Academy for different communication and audiences
Comprehensive experience in project management, publications, public relations, branding, and social media strategies
Ability to multi-task and manage a number of project requests and initiatives
Exceptional interpersonal and oral skills
Experience in private education or non-profit environment highly preferred
