The Communications Associate is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Communications. This individual works closely with the Director of Communications, the Director of Web Services, other colleagues in the Advancement Office, and faculty and staff from across campus to contribute to projects that communicate Potomac School news and information to internal and external constituents and support the school’s mission and strategic goals.
Requirements of the position include very strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills; effective listening and oral communication skills; technological literacy, including familiarity with web-based publication software and a variety of social media platforms; and photography skills. Other important attributes include a positive, can-do attitude and exceptional attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in English, communications, or public relations (master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a professional communications setting. Candidates under consideration for the position will be asked to submit two to three writing samples, and writing/copyediting/proofreading simulations may be administered during the interview process.
