St. Andrew’s School, located in Barrington, R.I., is an intentionally small boarding and day school serving students in grades 6-12 and a post-graduate year, with the residential program beginning in grade 9. Using a personal approach to teaching and learning, our students benefit from small class size and twice-daily meetings with their advisors. Approximately twenty-five percent of the student population has an identified learning difference.
St. Andrew’s seeks an admission fellow for the 2017-2018 academic year. The fellow will join an admission team that includes the director of admission, the associate director of admission, the assistant director of admission and the office manager. Using a collaborative approach, the goal of the St. Andrew’s School admission office is to ensure that all outreach and communications properly support and reflect the school’s strategic mission, goals and distinctive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate who is interested in pursuing a career in a boarding school. The admission office fellow will report to the director of admission.
The responsibilities of this specific position include but are not limited to:
Communicate frequently with prospective students and families to build strong relationships that continue throughout the admission process
Plan and attend various admission related events throughout the year, including oversight of the school’s preview day program
Interview prospective students
Attend and participate in all relevant admission decision meetings
Maintain an active, visible level of involvement in the life of the school (attending classes, events, and welcoming other opportunities)
Collaborate with faculty, staff, current parents, former parents and alumni for recruitment, enrollment and retention efforts
Travel locally, regionally and nationally to represent the School at fairs and conferences
Serve as a member of the residential life team, with weekly and weekend duty responsibilities
B.A. or equivalent
Belief in independent education, particularly the mission of St. Andrew’s School
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel
Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to team processes
