This is a full-time, year-round position serving as a member of the Advancement Office team. The Communications and Donor Relations Officer serves a dual role including developing graphic and written communication, news releases, social media and digital content; as well as managing relationships and securing support from individual, corporate, and foundation donors. This position works collaboratively with the Advancement team to develop strategies to further the engagement of all alumni, donors, and friends of MCI with the intent of inspiring their philanthropic support. S/He is integral to the team’s efforts to identify prospective major gift donors, executing plans to qualify, contact, and cultivate donors, and then to successfully solicit their financial support. If lacking professional fundraising experience, training will be provided. This position will remain open until filled.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate media requests and promote news stories to enhance the public perception of MCI.
Write and design institutional publications, including Alumnus Magazine, newsletters, solicitation materials, special-event printed programs.
Work with the Advancement team on MCI’s social media presence; create and update content on MCI website.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: engagement, solicitation, and stewardship.
Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of related experience.
Advanced knowledge of publication design including preferred experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and website management.
Knowledge of social media tools Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Excellent written and organizational skills.
An ability to meet deadlines and achieve ambitious goals.
Highly developed computer skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
