Gill St. Bernard’s School, an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory day school for students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, in Gladstone, New Jersey, announces a search for a Communications Associate/Intern beginning July, 2017.
The Communications Associate will be responsible for creating value in all school communications by supporting the development of communications that promote greater awareness and affinity among key stakeholders of GSB. The role will be split with a focus on graphic design and general, short-lead news coverage/writing.
Create beautiful and brand compliant graphics and creative pieces including brochures, programs, invitations, web banners, social media, academic and admission-based materials and print advertisements.
Create and manage HTML email templates for marketing purposes.
Design weekly GSB HTML newsletter template using internal stories as well as weekly submissions from faculty and staff.
Create short-lead copy/stories of all types about students/athletes, faculty, staff and alumni. The ability to develop high-quality content under deadline is essential for this position—writing, researching and interviewing.
Provide daily coverage of on-campus events and photo opportunities.
Work closely with Athletics Department Liaison to ensure all athletic news within school publications and online is comprehensive and timely; work with Athletics Department Liaison to coordinate athletics photographer.
Help proofread all print and online school communications and publications.
Support the production management of all publications and marketing materials developed by the Communications Department.
Support the organization of photo shoots, helping to coordinate schedules with students, faculty, administrators and alumni.
B.A. degree in graphic design.
High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
Excellent writing, editing, proofing and project management skills are necessary; experience in sports writing a plus.
Proficiency in professional grade photography and editing.
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a professional communications setting. Experience in a non-profit, independent or academic setting is a plus.
High comfort level and technical proficiency with print, web and social media platforms.
Ability to organize multiple projects simultaneously with great attention to details and sensitivity to deadlines and priorities
